It’s Friday, so I thought I’d share a little snippet from my upcoming urban fantasy romance, To Tame A Wild Heart.
The scene below is one of my favorites, because it is the first time I’ve had a chance to delve deeper into a Hohlwen character. The Hohlwen (Hollow Ones) are immortal fallen angels made of darkness. They must siphon the “mana” of other living creatures to survive, and Zyne witches provide the most satiating meal. This book made me explore more about their history, their powers, and the dynamic between them and the Zyne (hint: because they pose such a threat, the Hohlwen have been conquered/enslaved by the ruling body of the Zyne, the Synod. They’re not too happy about that arrangement.)
You can see the visual inspiration for the Hohlwen on my Pinterest Board. Continue reading
This is an “added scene” that takes place several months before the events in Skydancer Book 1. Astrid is one of my favorites, and I look forward to telling more of her story as the series expands. For a glimpse into the world of the Zyne Legacy, including what all of the characters look like (as children and adults), visit my Rain of Ash Pinterest Board
Astrid wasn’t an Oracle. She’d only studied the basics of divination, and even that was sketchy. Still, she thought, zigzagging her way down the jagged hillside to the beach, it was Ostara – the Spring Equinox. For the briefest of moments, her little part of the earth would be cast in equal parts light and shadow. For the briefest of moments, the energies of the Conduit would be in perfect balance. If she was lucky – and prepared, which she was – she could maybe get a tiny glimpse of the future.
Cloak of Deceit will be FREE from January 23-26th, 2016!
This is your last chance to read the first book for free
before I start posting the serialized second novel.
To whet your appetite, here is an exclusive excerpt…
I post a little snippet of something on most Fridays. It may be an excerpt, a piece of flash, or a chapter from a serialized novel. Check back often, or follow the blog to make sure you don’t miss any of the fun!
If I hadn’t dropped my yoga mat, the bus never would have hit me.
I’ve been so excited about this, talking about it on Facebook, and Twitter, and in real life… that I somehow forgot to blog about it. If you haven’t gotten a copy yet and you’d like to sample my writing, my first book is available for FREE on Amazon for 3 more days!
I’ve posted another excerpt on Riverina Romantics, and I’m also giving away a $10 Amazon Gift Card to one lucky winner.
Yesterday was very exciting, watching my title climb the free charts. I made it to #21 in Paranormal Romance/Psychics and #42 in Paranormal Romance/Vampires. The numbers have gone down today, but that is still many hundreds more readers than I had before, so I’m pretty ecstatic! To all of you who downloaded it, whoever you are… THANK YOU!
If you don’t have it yet, head on over and download a copy here. 🙂
Welcome to Fiction Friday, where I will post excerpts of my books, current projects, or occasionally short pieces of fiction from my brain that won’t be published anywhere else. Today, in honor of my upcoming release, I’m posting a little snippet from Cloak of Deceit, my new adult urban fantasy romance, which should be published by the time the Seahawks win their second Superbowl!!! 😉
Since I’m a one-woman-show, I spent several hours doing the formatting the past few nights and finally uploaded it to Kindle Direct Publishing last night at 10pm. I’ll do a full post on that adventure next week. This first book is a steep learning curve, and I want other indie authors to be able to follow in my tracks (assuming I’m successful – ha!).
For now, here’s an excerpt from Chapter Seventeen of Cloak of Deceit. You can download the first three chapters here. Please sign up for my newsletter if you want to be notified when the book is available for purchase on Amazon! Happy Friday! And GO HAWKS!!!
