I took a much-needed vacation in mid-November and once I came back, it was as if the wind had gone out of my sails. Not in a bad way! Actually it would be more accurate to say that instead of the hurricane frenzy I left in, I came back riding a nice subtle breeze. So rather than try to gear up for a big push at the end of the year, I decided to just relax and let things flow.
It seemed the universe was trying to force that decision anyway, because there have been several delays in my slated writing schedule–some of my own making (hello, Bookstagram!) and some out of my control. So, here’s the scoop:
Skydancer Book 2, Veil of Thorns (50K/100K words). I crossed the halfway mark and hit a big momentum shift in the story and then paused to do some more detailed outlining, but hopefully writing will speed up now that I’ve laid down all the groundwork and can dig back into the action. Then I usually do one round of rewrites/revisions, and my editing process is thankfully pretty quick after that. (On a side note, I LOVE this book. I hope you will too.)
I have some other small tidbits (Lilly & Peter spinoff from TTAWH) brewing as well–extras for my newsletter and faithful friends–but I still have a Halloween story I promised that is only half-written, so I’ve decided not to promise anything. I wish I could be one of those authors who could provide a steady stream of fresh content, but that’s not really feasible while I still work a day-job.
Once I’m finished with Book 2, I’ll launch immediately into book 3 and try to wrap up the trilogy by the first quarter of 2018.
- Rain of Ash Audiobook (in production) – January*
- Rain of Ash PAPERBACK (finally) – January
- Wild Heart PAPERBACK – February/March
- Veil of Thorns (ebook/paperback) – April*
- Cloak of Deceit (new adult UF romance) Audiobook/Paperback – May
- Crown of Stars (Skydancer Book 3) – July*
I haven’t yet decided everything else I plan to write in 2018, but there will definitely be some free short stories and potentially a novella (set in Zyne Legacy universe) coming. I have two other Zyne Legacy romances planned, but whether I devote time to those may depend on how the other Zyne books do. I have been itching to get back to my dystopian vampire steampunk world (this book will be shopped to agents instead of published) so CROWN OF STARS could be my final release for 2018.
I really hope I can make all these goals. I’m going to buckle down and do my very best to make it happen! Thank you for sticking with me this far!
